Content is the most profitable investment in yourself
Reciprocity
It’s a law of human nature.
It means:
If you do something nice for me, I’ll do something nice for you.
I feel obligated to reciprocate.
Example:
You: I pay for lunch.
Me: I’ll pay for it next time!
What has that to do with content?
Content creation is reciprocation on steroids.
Content means giving.
Giving people value.
Malachy (a reader of my newsletter) just started with it.
After last week’s newsletter issue he started giving people advice on how to manage their finances.
If you give people value
They will want to return it
That’s why you buy online courses
That’s why you subscribed to this newsletter
Because people on the internet gave you value
And you want break even
Because you’ve received something
Making content for 1 or 100,000 people costs the same effort.
You script
You record
You hit publish
All of these steps stay the same
Whether you have 1 or 100,000 subscribers.
Few business have this amount of leverage
As Naval says:
“Wealth requires leverage.
Business leverage comes from capital, people,
and products with no marginal cost of replication (code and content).”
